Information for International Applicants
The Ohio State University works to provide global access to its online degree programs. While we carefully track issues related to international authorization and licensure, it is a student’s responsibility to understand requirements related to whether an online degree will be recognized in a country other than the United States, how the collection of student data may be used in another country, and whether withholding taxes (in addition to the price of tuition) will apply.
Some countries may not formally recognize foreign online degrees, which may have implications for students who later seek to enroll in other educational programs, or for those who seek employment with that country’s government or other employers requiring specific credentials.
If you’re considering enrolling in an online program that leads to a professional license, contact the appropriate professional licensing board in your country of residence or the country where you intend to work in order to determine whether an online degree from Ohio State will be recognized.
Professional Licensure Information
If you live outside Ohio and are considering enrolling in an online program that leads to a professional license, we highly recommended that you contact the appropriate state licensing agency in your state or the state where you intend to work to seek the most up-to-date information about state licensure requirements before beginning the program. Ohio State makes every effort to ensure licensure information is current; however, licensure regulations are frequently revised.

Arkansas Department of Higher Education
The Ohio State University is authorized to operate in Arkansas through mutual participation in the State Authorization Reciprocity Agreement (SARA). Ohio State's approval for institutional participation in SARA was granted by the National Council for State Authorization Reciprocity Agreements (NC-SARA) on September 22, 2015.
Professional Board Licensure
Arkansas State Board of Nursing
The Arkansas State Board of Nursing does not require approval of online post-licensure nursing programs. Because they are post-licensure online nursing programs, The Ohio State University may offer the online Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree completion (RN-BSN), MS in Nursing, Doctor of Nursing Practice (post-master's DNP or BSN-DNP), Nursing in School Health Services Certificate, Nurse Coaching Graduate Certificate, and Nurse Educator Certificate programs to students located in Arkansas.
Completion of the online MS in Nursing degree program, or completion of the MS portion of the online BSN-DNP degree program, meets educational requirements to sit for national specialty certification in the chosen advanced practice specialty track. The Arkansas State Board of Nursing requires applicants for an APRN license to complete a nationally accredited APRN program and hold national advanced practice certification, in addition to other requirements. Ohio State's online MS in Nursing degree program is CCNE-accredited. Therefore, completion of the online MS in Nursing degree program, or the MS portion of the online BSN-DNP degree program, meets educational requirements for APRN licensure in Arkansas.
The online Nursing in School Health Services Certificate program prepares students to administer school health services; however, it does not lead to School Nurse licensure.
The online Nurse Coaching Graduate Certificate program prepares completers who hold a baccalaureate degree in nursing and meet other requirements to seek certification as a Nurse Coach Board Certified (NC-BC) from the American Holistic Nurses Credentialing Corporation.
The online Nurse Educator Certificate program prepares nurses with master's or doctoral preparation to take the national certification exam to become a Certified Nurse Educator (CNE).
Ohio State is not offering the online School Nurse Professional Pupil Services Licensure Certificate, School Nurse Wellness Coordinator Certificate, or Registered Nurses in Primary Care Certificate programs to students located outside Ohio at this time.
Arkansas State Board of Dental Examiners
The Ohio State University’s online Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene degree program is designed for licensed dental hygienists who have earned an associate degree or certificate from a CODA accredited program. The online Master of Science in Dental Hygiene degree program is designed for licensed dental hygienists who have earned a bachelor’s degree. These programs do not lead to an initial or additional license.
The Arkansas State Board of Dental Examiners does not require approval of post-licensure dental hygiene programs. Therefore, Ohio State may offer the online Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene and the Master of Science in Dental Hygiene degree programs to students located in Arkansas.
Arkansas Department of Education
The Arkansas Department of Education does not require approval of online out-of-state educator programs that do not lead to teacher licensure in Arkansas. Because the programs do not lead to licensure, The Ohio State University may offer the online Master of Arts in Art Education, Master of Learning Technologies, Associate of Arts in Early Childhood Development and Education (ECDE), and Core Practices in World Language Education programs to students located in Arkansas.
The online ECDE program leads to Associate Licensure in Pre-Kindergarten Education and prepares students to teach in childcare, pre-schools, and pre-k programs within a school district in Ohio. Arkansas does not offer an equivalent associate pre-k license. A bachelor’s degree is required for pre-k teacher licensure in Arkansas. However, the online ECDE program could qualify completers for other early childhood roles in Arkansas if all other criteria are met.
The online Master of Arts in Art Education, Master of Learning Technologies, and Core Practices in World Language Education programs are not designed to lead to initial or additional teacher licensure.
Arkansas Social Work Licensing Board
The Arkansas Social Work Licensing Board requires out-of-state online social work programs to be accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) but does not approve programs. The Ohio State University's online Master of Social Work degree programs are CSWE accredited. Therefore, Ohio State may offer those programs to students located in Arkansas.
Ohio State's online Master of Social Work degree program meets Arkansas education requirements to apply for licensure as a Licensed Master Social Worker or a Licensed Certified Social Worker. However, additional Board requirements (Ark. Code sec. 17-103-306) must be met prior to applying for a Master's prepared Social Work license in Arkansas.
Arkansas Department of Health (Radiologic Sciences)
The Ohio State University's online AS to BS in Radiologic Sciences degree completion program is designed for individuals who hold an Associate of Science degree and are certified by the ARRT, NMTCB, or ARDMS. The program prepares completers for the AHRA Certified Radiology Administrator credential exam but does not lead to an initial or additional license in Arkansas.
The Arkansas Department of Health does not require approval to offer the online AS to BS in Radiologic Sciences degree completion program to students located in Arkansas.
