The online Health Care Revenue Cycle and Data Analytics Graduate Certificate prepares medical professionals and information technology staff in health care settings with the skills they need to advance their career and meet health information management’s growing digital demands. The online certificate will help you develop skills related to health care revenue cycle management, operating health information management systems, health care data analytics, capturing health care data, health care reimbursement, and ensuring health care data quality.

Graduates will be able to utilize health care data analytics to improve business decisions and improve overall health information management processes.
The Graduate Certificate Program is designed for those currently working in or with the desire to work in the following roles:
  • Health information management, including medical group practice managers and health care reimbursement managers
  • Health care revenue cycle management, including healthcare data quality
  • Information technology or health care data quality staff
  • Graduate students in health and rehabilitation sciences, engineering, business, computer science or nursing

Admission Criteria

Prospective students are eligible for admission to the Graduate School at The Ohio State University as evidenced by:
  • A baccalaureate or professional degree (or equivalent foreign credential) from an accredited college or university, earned by the expected date of entry into the certificate program
  • A minimum of a 3.0 cumulative GPA (on a 4.0 scale) for the last degree earned
  • For international applicants and those who have held the status of U.S. permanent resident for less than one year from the first day of the first term of enrollment and are not currently an Ohio State graduate student, submission of TOEFL or IELTS scores.
  • Currently enrolled as a degree-seeking student in a graduate program at Ohio State
Submit application and requested materials at least one semester prior to intended enrollment in the initial required course.

The Ohio State University participates in the State Authorization Reciprocity Agreements (SARA).

SARA is a national initiative that increases student access to distance education courses and programs while maintaining compliance with state regulations. Institutions participating in SARA can offer educational opportunities in all 49 SARA member states, the District of Columbia, the U.S. Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico without seeking individual approval in each state.

California is not a SARA member state, however, OSU may offer online courses and programs to students located in California under the California Private Post-Secondary Act of 2009.

Curriculum

The Health Care Revenue Cycle and Data Analytics Graduate Certificate curriculum provides a foundation of education on medical coding and health care data analytics.
