Paying for college is a big financial commitment. At Ohio State, the credentials you earn will be from one of the top public universities in the country, and earning your credential online makes it a great value, as well as a great investment in your future.

Tuition varies by program and the number of credits you’re enrolled in. Find tuition rates on the registrar’s website.

The Ohio State University disclaims any liability arising from the use of or reliance upon these program cost estimates by any person. Program costs are subject to change without notice. Estimates have been calculated as of the 2023-24 academic year.

Note that other fees may apply for dropped courses, late payments, re-enrollments, student health insurance, etc. Additionally, programs that require internship, practicum, clinical, orientations, study abroad, or other on-site components may have additional fees and non-resident charges during the applicable semester. Important Notes about Distance Tuition:

  • A distance program is a postsecondary educational program offered by an institution of higher education that leads to an academic or professional degree, certificate, or other recognized educational credential.
  • At Ohio State, a distance program is defined as a program in which 50% or more of the courses offered in a program are distance courses. Students enrolled in Ohio State Online programs are designated by being enrolled in the ONL (Online Learning) subplan.
  • A distance education administration surcharge of $100 per student per term is charged for any student enrolled in courses tagged as distance education. The revenue generated from this fee will fund 24/7 distance education support.
  • Non-resident students enrolled in Ohio State Online programs with the ONL subplan will have the non-resident surcharge assessed at $200 per term.
  • Site-based fees (e.g., COTA Fee, Recreation Center Fee and the Ohio Union Fee) will not be assessed for students enrolled in all distance education courses.
