School Nurse Wellness Coordinator Certificate
If you are an Ohio Department of Education Professional Pupil Services licensed school nurse seeking graduate level education to advance your skills and leadership in the field, this certificate could be for you.
This online graduate certificate is for Ohio Registered Nurses with a baccalaureate degree who have three years of school nurse experience and hold a current School Nurse Professional Pupil Services License through the Ohio Department of Education. It is designed to prepare you to provide leadership and coordination for the wellness of students and their families, school staff, and the community at-large. Experiences will focus on coordination of the school’s health service delivery system, strategies to provide emergency preparedness programming, collaboration with other leaders in pupil personnel services and administration, and leadership in school health services within the context of the Whole School, Whole Community, Whole Child model.
This certificate is an online program (with the option for asynchronous classes, on your own schedule) that includes four core master’s level courses and a culminating School Nurse Wellness Coordinator Practice course with a field experience in an Ohio school. Successful completion of the program will result in eligibility for endorsement through the Ohio Department of Education as a School Nurse Wellness Coordinator. Nurses with the Ohio Department of Education school nurse license are encouraged to apply to the School Nurse Wellness Coordinator Certificate program. Please note that after January 1, 2020, all students must demonstrate that they have an earned master’s degree in order to be eligible for endorsement as reflected in ORC 3319.221.
