Overview

Become an expert in data storytelling with the Master of Translational Data Analytics from Ohio State’s Translational Data Analytics Institute. This truly interdisciplinary program is designed for working professionals in fields as diverse as health care, education, finance, government, and the arts who want to apply statistics, machine learning, and user experience and data visualization tactics to uncover and present insights from data.

Subject matter experts from the departments of Computer Science and Engineering, Statistics, Design, and the Advanced Computing Center for the Arts and Design engage with you in practical and experiential learning projects. Through a design thinking lens, you can immediately apply new research methods and in-demand data analysis skills with a focus on developing full-cycle workflows for big data.

Unique in the growing data science landscape, no significant background in analytics and programming is required. In this program, you will have the flexibility of both asynchronous and synchronous courses designed for working professionals. Each cohort is carefully curated, placing an emphasis on students’ varied backgrounds and disciplines to enrich team-based case studies and projects. You will spend the final two semesters of the 33-credit program working on diverse teams to complete a workforce-focused capstone project.

Admission Criteria

Admission into the Master of Translational Data Analytics program is based on the following requirements:

  • An earned bachelor’s degree or higher in any subject.
  • A 3.0 cumulative GPA from all courses from all course attempts
  • At least 1 year of professional experience in a field relevant to the degree program
    • Professional experience refers to experience gained through employment. We are looking for committed individuals who can demonstrate problem-solving capabilities, those that take initiative, and those that can demonstrate a strong work ethic in a professional environment.

The Ohio State University participates in the State Authorization Reciprocity Agreements (SARA).

SARA is a national initiative that increases student access to distance education courses and programs while maintaining compliance with state regulations. Institutions participating in SARA can offer educational opportunities in all 49 SARA member states, the District of Columbia, the U.S. Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico without seeking individual approval in each state.

California is not a SARA member state, however, OSU may offer online courses and programs to students located in California under the California Private Post-Secondary Act of 2009.
